Art Guidelines

We require one of the following:
CAMERA-READY ART
What is camera-ready art?
Camera-ready art specifically means that your artwork copy, to be printed on any item, is in its final form... ready to photograph... ready to begin the printing plate preparation.

Camera-ready art is a sharp, legible copy printed in black on white paper that requires no further touch-up.  It is ready for reproduction of company logo, illustrations and special typefaces where exact duplication is required.  It is exactly as you want it on the product (except maybe for the size).  Your camera-ready art can be reduced or made larger, but no changes or touch-up can be done to qualify it as camera-ready.

A Fax copy, or a Xerox copy of camera-ready art does not qualify!  Any art not printed on clean, white paper does not qualify.  These will require special handling, which will result in artwork charges.  They are not camera-ready.

When  you do have camera-ready art, be sure not to fold, use paper clips, scotch tape or staples on it as it can result in art charges to fix the damaged areas.  Be very careful in protecting the artwork for mailing, too.

HARD COPY CAMERA-READY ART SUBMISSION
Send clean, crisp, black & white art printed at 600 dpi or greater, on white paper.

What about art for two-color art?
Two-color reproduction does require separated art.  Separated art consists of two or more pieces, one for each color to be reproduced.  Whatever shows in black will be imprinted.  Each color will be on a different plate.

For multi-color artwork, please provide camera-ready separated artwork.  Non-separated artwork will incur art charges.

ELECTRONIC ART SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Electronic Art:
We are PC (Windows) based.
We accept electronic artwork via email or on PC formatted floppy disks, zip disks, or CDs.
We accept TIF, EPS (with thumbnail) or PDF formats.
We can also accept files created in:
PageMaker 6.5, CorelDraw 10.0 or lower, and Adobe Illustrator 9.0
Please indicate format and version used.  Make sure to include all linked graphics and fonts used in your file.

The file must be prepared to produce camera-ready black & white or color separated artwork.
(Send it to your laser printer to be sure you are getting the proper quality and separations, because if it will not separate for you, it won't separate for us.)

Any files requiring manipulation will incur art charges.

To Email Artwork:
Please contact your sales representative before submitting your artwork.

Include:  When sending artwork to us, please use the word "artwork" in the subject line, and in the text of your message, include Company Name, P.O. #, Filename, Contact Person, and phone number.  Include any special instructions.  You may FAX a copy or sketch of your artwork for comparison purposes to 734-420-2796 ATTN:  Art Department.

Type Styles
If you are going to do the text yourself, please make sure it is integrated in the graphic, converted to curves and smooth!  Text, like all other aspects of the artwork must be solid BLACK!  Most computer fonts are multi-colored (those gray scale spots) to give them the smooth look and develop the jagged edges upon conversion to black.  Please include the names of all fonts used in your artwork.  This will insure our ability to product the cleanest artwork possible.
Art Charge
Any art that requires retouching will be billed at $40.00 (x) per hour with a minimum charge of $20.00.  This includes all faxed artwork, grayscale artwork, and non-color separated artwork.
